Saving your work

Every change you make shows up on the canvas right away. Saving stores it in your project, so it's there the next time you open the builder. Saving doesn't put anything on your live site. That only happens when you publish.

The save button​

The save button sits in the toolbar, just right of Preview (the eye icon).

  • With unsaved changes, it shows a save icon. Hover it to see how many, then click to save.
  • With everything saved, it shows a check mark. Clicking it opens version history.
  • If an automatic save fails, it turns red and says Autosave failed, will retry.

You can also press ⌘S / Ctrl+S, or choose File > Save in the logo menu.

Automatic saving​

  • Auto-save saves your changes 5 minutes after your last edit. It's on by default. Turn it off or on in Settings > General. See Site settings.
  • AI replies save themselves. When the AI finishes a reply, its changes are saved, along with any unsaved edits of yours.
  • Publishing saves first. The publish button saves any pending changes before it builds.
  • Version history saves first. Opening it saves your pending changes so the newest version includes them.
  • On a phone, saving is always automatic and happens about 30 seconds after your last edit.

Leaving with unsaved changes​

If you close the tab or reload with unsaved changes, your browser asks you to confirm. If you leave anyway, those changes are lost. The next time you open the project, it loads your last saved version.

Working in more than one tab​

You can have the same project open in several tabs. When you open it in a new tab, the tabs already open save their pending changes first, so the new tab starts from your latest work. When you restore a version in one tab, the other tabs reload to show it.
